Description
Condition:
This lovely old Selmer is something rather special, fully overhauled about four years ago with only very little playing (by a professional player) since. It has been extremely well looked after and is a fine example of a rare and very collectible tenor, which can easily be used as a daily player.
The keyword and ergonomics are excellent. The beautiful silver plate is in very good condition with just some slight wear on some of the touch-pieces. Aesthetically this sax is stunning. The sound is huge with great projection and a ‘sizzle’ that you would more associate with a Conn 10M without loosing the Selmer core sound and response. Intonation is excellent throughout the horn and the low end is extremely open and free blowing. The sax can both roar and subtone with great ease and is extremely responsive, it has a great evenness across the range and is a real joy to play.
Selmer 13732 is a UK-market Large-Bore Era Tenor. It is not a Super nor a Cigar Cutter. The octave mech is essentially the same as from the Modele 22. This one shipped from Selmer Paris in Dec 1930 and is a fine example of pre-war Selmer London engraving. I call this a “Large-Bore Era” (rather than just “Large-Bore” since the Altos were the only type to get a larger bore in 1928.) Roughly 70 Tenors were shipped to Selmer London in 1930.
