Here’s a beautiful example of Conn New Wonder 1 Tenor sax. It’s had a good re-lacquer many years ago, which was a good job and is in excellent condition. These old Conn’s have a huge amount of projection and much more colour in the sound than the later models. There really is nothing else that comes close to this tone and character, they blow your socks off and are incredibly versatile. 

The ergonomics are actually surprisingly comfortable for such an old design and you can fly around the horn without much any problems. For a sax that is over 100 years old this is an incredible instrument and a real blower, it’s free, responsive, flexible and the intonation is good. The whole thing vibrates and resonates in your hands – lovely! 

This is a real piece of saxophone history and a great playing horn that can be used everyday. It’s a lot of saxophone for the money and represents a fantastic investment, these saxes are only going to go up in value, not that you’ll want to sell it if you buy it!
