Is this the best soprano we’ve ever played? Quite possibly. It will be difficult to find a better soprano than this one from the best conn serial range. Aesthetically it is simply stunning with its thick, satin gold plate which is even more beautiful in person. The tone is, as you would expect from a Conn like this, big, round, warm and powerful; it’ll fill a room with little effort and is surprisingly easy to play. There is a great versatility to the sound which is full of overtones and complexity of character. Just a beautiful horn, and not many around like this – it’s almost like buying a brand-new Chu Berry Soprano right out of the shop in 1928.
