Description
Condition:
12M BariThe sax has been very well looked after, it was re lacquered in the mid to late 60s. As far as I am aware there hasn’t been any detached posts or guards. The pads are in good condition (see photos).
There are a couple of small cracks, where the crook attaches. These have been drilled many years ago to stop further problems. All is fine!
The case is original, though I think it had a new leather handle fitted some years ago. It is also sound.
This baritone has been in the same family, from new. It was selected by its first owner, ‘Chick’ Purcell, a highly regarded clarinettist and saxophonist, from Manchester. Chick taught members of the BBC Northern Dance Orchestra (NDO). The instrument was passed down to its current owner, Roger Purcell, by his Father, Don. It has always been loved and highly cared for and is a fine example of the model.
Reason for sale: Roger now suffers from Dupuytrens Contrature and, following 5 hand operations is now unable to play.
